Our Programs

Avenues CONNECT is our flagship program. Through a four-phase process—mapping, connecting, navigating and transitioning—youth begin by building relationships in safe, familiar settings, followed by a strengths-based assessment and individualized action plan. Participants receive consistent mentorship, weekly check-ins, and hands-on accompaniment to community resources, moving beyond referrals to ensure meaningful connections. Monthly workshops foster skill development, self-reflection, and community engagement, while ongoing coordination with service providers promotes integrated support. As youth gain confidence and independence, the program gradually transitions them toward sustained engagement, equipping them with personalized resource guides and a strengthened support network to maintain long-term stability and growth.

Participant’s journey

Avenues COMMUNITY offers a variety of workshops and community outings for youth enrolled in the CONNECT program, while also welcoming newcomers. Programming blends experiential, skills‑based learning with community exploration, including visits to museums, libraries, art spaces, and local festivals. Community activities always include sharing a meal together and creating space for connection, belonging, and informal learning. Programming is adapted throughout the year to reflect participants’ interests, goals, and evolving needs.

Avenues OUTREACH is Avenues’ primary approach to building bridges with community stakeholders and engaging youth where they already are. The program is grounded in the co‑creation of projects and activities with community organizations and educational institutions. Avenues supports and on- and off-site, after‑school activities that create accessible entry points for youth to connect, explore interests, and build trust over time. Avenues Outreach also ensures a consistent presence at local forums, neighbourhood tables, and community spaces, strengthening relationships with partners and reinforcing Avenues’ role as a trusted connector within the community.
