Avenues to Employment supports youth experiencing difficulties accessing work. It combines practical skill‑building, relationship‑based outreach, and direct connections to employment services and local employers. It builds on Avenues’ established relationships with youth, educators, and community organizations to create accessible and welcoming entry points into the labour market.

Our recurring monthly workshop is delivered in youth‑friendly community spaces. Each session follows a consistent modular “blitz” format: a fast‑paced series of short, focused micro‑lessons paired with hands‑on activities. Youth explore local job pathways, learn résumé basics, practice job searching and applications, prepare for interviews and workplace expectations, and gain confidence using basic survival French for entry‑level service jobs. The emphasis is on clarity over perfection, action over theory, and destigmatizing the realities of job searching.

Workshops are co‑facilitated with community employment partners, creating opportunities for warm introductions, on‑site sign‑ups, and real conversations about next steps. Food is provided to create space for connection and dialogue. The program culminates in a year‑end career fair that brings youth, community partners, and local employers together—strengthening pathways built throughout the year and supporting smoother transitions into work.
