The Employment Facilitator will organize and deliver a series of community-based workshops designed to build employability skills, increase awareness of employment resources, and connect youth with job opportunities.

Avenues Montreal is seeking a dynamic and community-oriented Employment Facilitator to support the implementation of the “Avenues to Employment” project. This initiative engages English-speaking youth across Montreal and surrounding regions through practical employment workshops in various neighborhoods, strengthening connectivity to relevant community employment services and discovering local employment opportunities.
The Employment Facilitator will organize and deliver a series of community-based workshops designed to build employability skills, increase awareness of employment resources, and connect youth with job opportunities. The facilitator will work closely with partner organizations, schools, and employment service providers to ensure youth can access follow-up supports. The facilitator is responsible for recruiting workshop participants by visiting local adult education centers, CEGEPs and other educational institutions and youth community spaces. The facilitator will help create and distribute promotional materials.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with young people, animating workshops, and building partnerships within the community.

Animate 10-12 employment-focused workshops that incorporate interactive activities covering topics such as résumé writing, interview preparation, job search strategies, entry-level French, workplace expectations, and practical employment skills to youth in community spaces.
Recruit participants to attend each workshop by visiting local education centers and community spaces to hand out promotional materials and present the workshops.
Create welcoming, youth-friendly workshop environments that encourage participation and engagement.
Support youth in identifying employment goals and accessing appropriate services.
Maintain supportive relationships with youth participants and community organizations to encourage youth follow-up with services.
Coordinate with community partners and employment service providers (e.g., Carrefours jeunesse-emploi, Centre Génération Emploi, YES Employment + Entrepreneurship) to participate in workshops.
Facilitate opportunities for youth to connect directly with service providers and employers.
Support the planning and delivery of a career fair (March 2027) that will connect youth with employers in sectors such as retail, food services, grocery, and hospitality.
Work closely with Avenues Montreal’s executive team to develop the project and provide updates on individual progress.
Maintain program statistics including attendance, community partnerships, case management databases, and assist with program expense tracking and report preparation.

Minimum 2 years of experience working with youth or young adults, particularly those facing barriers to employment.
Minimum 1 year experience facilitating and animating workshops, training sessions, or group activities.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to build relationships with community organizations and partners.
Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently.
Non-profit experience is not essential, but an asset.
Relevant training certificates an asset (i.e. ASSIST/Safe Talk, Trauma-Informed Care, Mental Health First Aid)

Experience in employment services, workforce development, or community outreach.
Knowledge of the Montreal employment landscape, particularly entry-level sectors such as retail, hospitality, and food services.
Familiarity with community organizations serving English-speaking youth.
Bilingualism (English and French).

The ideal candidate would have the flexibility to accommodate weekend and evening activities.
Hours: 25 hours/ week
Rate: $27.50/hour, to be invoiced monthly
Contract dates: April 2026- March 2027

The Youth Facilitator works directly with youth and community organizations to deliver our programming.

The youth facilitator’s tasks include, but are not limited to:
Meet one on one with participants
Maintain regular contact/communication with participants
Maintain program case management databases and assist with program expense tracking and report preparation
Take a strength-based approach with each participant and adapt programming to their unique needs and interests
Assist participants with goal tracking
Facilitate introductory meetings with youth and community resources
Network and uphold relationships with community organizations
Coordinate and support community outings and community building activities
Participate in team meetings with facilitators and executive co-directors
Report to the co-executive directing team
Ensure program delivery protects participant and community safety

Ability to work independently and strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Committed to continuous growth and development of professional skills and knowledge
Ability to motivate clients to set long-term and short-term goals
Demonstrated ability to creatively facilitate, with a well-developed set of techniques to accommodate various learning needs
Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to interact with the participants, team, and community partners
Ability to build constructive, trusting, and safe relationships with youth.

Minimum 3 years experience working with youth or vulnerable populations in a mentorship capacity
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and French
Undergraduate degree in fields related to education, sociology and psychology or a combination of relevant professional and life experiences
Awareness of Montreal’s landscape of community organizations and health-related resources
Interest in exploring Montreal
Non-profit experience is not essential, but an asset.

The ideal candidate would have the flexibility to accommodate a variable schedule with meeting youth in-person.
Freelance contract with part-time flexible hours
Rate: $24 - $28/hour, to be invoiced monthly
Hours: 4 – 8 hours a week, monthly max. of 30 hours
Evening and weekend availability
