Good eats and great vibes
It was a day of sunshine and smiles at the Avenues BBQ in June, with staff and participants coming together to reflect on their progress and enjoy some great food.
Avenues Board Member Nikki MacMillan led a focused kitchen, with groups working together to whip up a watermelon and feta salad, fresh burgers, and delicious home-made fries.
“Always had the best experiences when we BBQ with Nikki and the gang, enjoying with friends the laughter and eating incredibly tasty food,” said Avenues participant Tyrone.
“The BBQ was amazing! We all had a good time making and learning how to prepare the food,” said fellow participant Jerome. “We saw some new and familiar faces, talked and shared stories, and at the end we all ate the delicious food we made together.”
Participants played to their strengths, with grill-masters frying up burgers on the patio, and learned new skills, creating an emulsified salad dressing.
“We did such an amazing team effort to produce such delicious food,” said Avenues participant Claudio. “Thank you everyone, we the best.”
